3rd Culture Brewing Co. is not, unfortunately, going to probably get the review from me that it deserves. I was there such a short time and only had one beer. That said, it was such a curiosity to me that I thought it worth reviewing anyway, I felt almost obliged to, in case that persuaded someone to make the trip or check it out. This is a tiny little place. Maybe a little more back story. If you’ve seen some of the outdoor/indoor food halls in Singapore you’ll know that they are full of booths or varying sizes offering every type of food you can imagine from every corner of the earth. Some of these stands, stalls, booths are not offering food, some offer drink, fruit juices, smoothies, coconuts or in the case of 3rd Culture, Craft Beer. The principle is simple, this tiny booth had twelve rotating taps offering an array of different beer styles and flavours. I keep saying how small this place was, I feel it is worth taking note of, the booth they were in is like maybe three metre across and they’re sharing it with a coffee place. So small. Anyway, the guy sat behind the taps was extremely happy when I walked up to him. He smiled, said hi, asked how I was doing and then gave me a brief heads up on what was available and what was out for the today. The food hall itself was closed already, I don’t remember exactly what time it was but I was on my way home so it is possibly that it was a little on the late side. The guy there was still perfectly happy and ready to serve me, not in any way in shut down mode. I got some recommendations and finally settled on my choice.

Imagine how many beers had been had at this table.

All around the booth there are these large communal tables set up. Bolted to floor. And they have, if I remember correctly six to eight seats coming of them like spiders legs. It was all a little bit like in a prison TV show but what does it really matter, I’m here for the Craft Beer not the seating aesthetics, ergonomics or anthropometrics. And the beer was good and fresh. I wouldn’t have thought to look for a top quality tap room in a food hall like this but when you think about it, it really is quite smart. So many people, everyday, turning up to grab a bite to eat. Surely some of them get thirsty, then why not offer them a nice, possibly local, craft beer?  I really wish that I had more time to spend here. I also wish that I’d been here when everything was open and a there was a buzz of people, food and drink flying around left and right. I’d have liked to see what this place was like in full swing. Who knows, one day I might be back and get a chance to see just that, you never know. If you’re near to either of the Maxwell Food Centre or the Old Airport Road Food Centre locations then I do recommend you stop by and quench your thirst at 3rd Culture Brewing Co. The have a good selection of local and national and international Craft Beer accompanied with super friendly service. I wasn’t there very long but it was worth the visit. The pursuit of hoppiness continues…
